Keyed-Alike Locks - One Key for All Your Doors

If you're juggling four keys for one house — front, back, garage, side gate — a keyed-alike system fixes it. We set up your locks so a single key opens all of them, keeping the same level of security while getting rid of the guessing game at the door. We fit keyed-alike systems for homes and businesses across Wrexham, Chester, Shrewsbury and Oswestry.

Who Benefits from Keyed-Alike Locks

Larger homes and properties with outbuildings

Front, back, garage, workshop and gate all on one key — no more the-garage-key-is-in-the-garage moments.

Smaller homes and flats

Front and back door on a single key means a lighter keyring and far simpler access for children or elderly relatives.

Landlords and small businesses

Simpler tenant changeovers and contractor access, with less to hand over and less to lose.

Compatibility matters

Cylinders must share the same keyway to work on one key. Euro cylinders can usually be matched to each other, but a timber-door mortice lock generally can't share a key with a UPVC euro cylinder, which is why we always assess first.

Keyed-alike or master key

Keyed-alike means one key opens every door. If different people need access to different doors, that's a master key system, and we can advise which suits your property.

Keyed-Alike Locks FAQs

Can any of my locks be keyed alike?

Only locks of a compatible type and keyway. Euro cylinders can usually be matched to each other; a timber-door mortice lock generally can't share a key with a UPVC euro cylinder. The assessment confirms what's possible.

Is it less secure than separate keys?

The individual locks are exactly as secure — you can even specify anti-snap cylinders. The only trade-off is that one lost key affects every matched door.

What's the difference between keyed-alike and a master key system?

Keyed-alike means one key opens all the doors. A master key system gives different people keys that open only certain doors, with a master that opens everything.

Can I add more doors later?

Yes — a keyed-alike system is straightforward to extend, as long as any new cylinder is compatible with the existing key profile.
