Being locked out of your home is stressful at any time. When you’ve lost your keys and the door is fitted with a high-security lock, getting back in takes more care than usual.
In September 2026 we were called out late at night to Morda, just outside Oswestry. The customer had lost her house keys and couldn’t get back into her home. Morda is one of the villages we cover as part of our locksmith service in Oswestry and the surrounding villages, running from Wrexham, and we got out to her as quickly as we could.
A 3-star high-security cylinder
When we arrived, we found the door was fitted with a 3-star high-security cylinder. These are built to stand up to the common attacks that beat a standard cylinder, which is exactly what you want on your front door, right up until you’re the one stood outside it.
That extra protection makes a lockout more technically demanding. Forcing the door would have meant damage and a bigger repair bill, so we assessed the lock and the door first, then used specialist entry techniques to get her back inside while keeping damage to a minimum. The door and frame were left undamaged.
It’s one of the reasons it’s worth calling an experienced locksmith for a high-security lockout.
Why we replaced the lock
Once she was back inside, we talked through her options.
Because the keys had been lost, leaving the original cylinder in place would have been an obvious security concern. There’s no way of knowing where those keys have ended up, or whether someone could link them to her address.
So we recommended replacing the cylinder, and fitted a new high-security 3-star anti-snap cylinder with a fresh set of keys. The old keys won’t operate it.

New door handles, free of charge
While we were fitting the new cylinder, we noticed the door handles were past their best, so we replaced those as well, free of charge.
It was a small extra, but after a stressful night we wanted to leave her with a properly secured front door rather than just doing the minimum. For us, good locksmithing isn’t only about opening a locked door. It’s about making sure the customer feels safe when we leave.
